UP government to establish 33 integrated manufacturing and logistics clusters

The Uttar Pradesh state government has announced plans to establish 33 Integrated Manufacturing and Logistics Clusters (IMLCs) along major expressways in 30 districts. This initiative aims to boost industrial growth and streamline logistics across the state.

According to a press release from the state government, these IMLCs will be strategically located along five key expressways: Ganga, Bundelkhand, Agra-Lucknow, Gorakhpur Link, and Purvanchal. Additionally, land will be allocated for the defence corridor in Agra and Aligarh along the Agra-Lucknow expressway. Industrial corridors are also planned in Firozabad, Etawah, and Kannauj, with a defence corridor node proposed in Kanpur.

The clusters will span a total area of 6,149.30 hectares. Significant districts along the Ganga expressway, including Meerut, Hapur, Amroha, Sambhal, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Rae Bareli, Pratapgarh, and Prayagraj, will house these IMLCs.

In the Bundelkhand region, IMLCs will be developed in Chitrakoot, with additional nodes for the defence corridor. Banda, Hamirpur, Mahoba, Jalaun, and Auraiya near the Bundelkhand Expressway will also see the establishment of these clusters.

Further, IMLCs are planned near the Agra-Lucknow Expressway, Gorakhpur Link Expressway, and Purvanchal Expressway. To facilitate these developments, comprehensive reports will be compiled to secure the necessary environmental and other clearances.

Notably, an Industrial Corridor covering 62.93 hectares will be developed in Gorakhpur along the Gorakhpur Link Expressway. Additional industrial corridors spanning 143.63 hectares and 230.84 hectares will be established in Ambedkarnagar. As environmental and forest clearances are essential for these projects, the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) has initiated a Request for Proposal (RFP) process to select a consulting agency.

This initiative underscores the Uttar Pradesh government’s commitment to fostering industrial development and enhancing logistical efficiency across the state.
