Two more forwarders have signed up to Air France KLM Martinair Cargo’s (AFKLMP) Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) programme.
Best Global Logistics (BGL) has joined the programme for its 2021 marine logistics shipments as part of its Going Green strategy, while Dutch forwarder Fast Forward Freight (FFF) has also signed up to the programme.
BGL Group Director John Burgstra said, “We are prepared to assume responsibility for the future generation of airfreight. We genuinely want to empower our customers and the entire industry to make more sustainable decisions. Through innovative tailor-made solutions, ambitious programmes and reliable business practices, we strive to deliver green logistics solutions for our world. Now and in the future.’’
BGL in cooperation with 4PL sister company Marinetrans recently introduced their Going Green strategy, which the SAF programme is a part of.
Meanwhile, FFF said it monitors its impact on the environment and sets targets for improvement. The company also encourages the adoption of similar principles by its suppliers.
Marc Terpstra, Chief Executive Officer of FFF explained, “FFF in its blueprint will use every opportunity to be sustainable in their day-to-day activities. In this industry every step forward makes a big difference, and it is our social responsibility.”
Bernard Geersing, AFKLMP Cargo’s Director Benelux welcomed the two new sign ups. “We are extremely pleased with the willingness and concrete commitment of our Dutch partners Best Global Logistics and Fast Forward Freight to shape our common ambition for a more sustainable future,” he said
The AFKLMP Cargo SAF programme enables companies to select a percentage of their flights to be flown using SAF.
Customers determine their own level of engagement and AFKLMP ensures that their entire investment is used for sourcing SAF.
