AerCap expands partnership with JD Airlines, leasing four 737-800 converted freighters

AerCap, a leading aircraft leasing company headquartered in Dublin, has signed lease agreements for four 737-800 Boeing Converted Freighter (BCF) aircraft with JD Airlines, the cargo airline of JD Logistics. These aircraft, scheduled for delivery in 2024, will be operated on behalf of JD Logistics, a prominent supply chain service provider in China and a subsidiary of the e-commerce giant JD.com.

The 737-800BCF aircraft will be based at Nantong Xingdong International Airport and will operate routes connecting major economic hubs such as Nantong, Beijing, Shenzhen, and Wuxi, as well as other destinations across Asia. This addition enhances JD Airlines’ capacity to meet the rising demand for e-commerce and express deliveries, bolstering its logistics network.

Rich Greener, head of AerCap Cargo, expressed enthusiasm about the expanded partnership, stating, “We are delighted to announce this new agreement with JD Airlines, marking an exciting expansion of our business relationship. The addition of these four 737-800BCF aircraft to their fleet will enable JD Airlines to respond to the ever-growing demand for e-commerce and express deliveries. We wish the JD Airlines team continued success and look forward to many more years of successful collaboration.”

JD Logistics, established as a dedicated business group of JD.com in April 2017, is a global provider of technology-driven supply chain and logistics services, catering to a wide range of businesses and individual consumers across China.

AerCap, with over 30 years of experience in freighter leasing and Passenger-to-Freighter (P2F) conversions, serves approximately 300 customers worldwide. Recently, AerCap leased a 737-800BCF to Bahrain-based Texel Air for charter operations, replacing its older Boeing 737-300F. Additionally, Spanish airline Swiftair signed lease agreements for two A321 P2F aircraft with AerCap, introducing Airbus freighters into its fleet for the first time.

This new lease agreement with JD Airlines signifies AerCap’s ongoing commitment to supporting the growing e-commerce and logistics sector in Asia and beyond.
