Contributing to the ongoing COVID relief operations in India, Continental Carriers handled another charter uplift of three 20 ft International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) standard containers. These ISO containers will help in removing the transport constraints for medical grade liquid Oxygen in the country.
The shipment was flown on an AirBridgeCargo (ABC) plane that took off from China’s Tianjin Airport to reach Kolkata Airport on Wednesday evening.
“These containers originated from Shanghai and were transported to Tianjin Airport for clearance. From Tianjin Airport these were airflifted on a specially chartered IL76 aircraft to Kolkata Airport. These ISO containers will be used for transporting and storing oxygen in India for COVID relief assistance,” the company announced through a Linkedin post.
In addition to the production of high-quality medical grade liquid oxygen, the other challenge for India has been to quickly overcome the transportation bottleneck in supply of liquid oxygen to various parts of the country. This necessitated increasing the loading capacity for its safe and quick transportation.
