CJ Darcl Logistics pioneers eco-friendly transport of excavators via rail

CJ Darcl Logistics has successfully transported 34 excavators, including models from Volvo CE, Komatsu India, and Gainwell Commosales, a leading Caterpillar Inc. (CAT) dealer in India, using specialised rail rakes. This initiative aligns with CJ Darcl’s mission to integrate sustainable practices into logistics operations, making it the first company in the industry to utilise the Indian Railways network for aggregating and transporting heavy machinery from multiple OEMs. The shipment was moved from Chennai, Tamil Nadu, to Ballabgarh, Haryana.

“At CJ Darcl, we are driving a transformative shift in how heavy equipment is transported across the nation. Embracing rail transport is in line with India’s vision of modern, eco-friendly infrastructure. This initiative is a testament to our unwavering commitment to innovation, sustainability, and leadership in the logistics sector,” said KK Agarwal, CMD of CJ Darcl.

Nikhil Agarwal, President of CJ Darcl, added, “Our decision to employ rail transport for excavators marks a significant advancement in our sustainability commitment. This initiative not only minimises our carbon footprint but also underscores our dedication to leading the logistics industry toward a more environmentally friendly and efficient future.”

The use of rail rakes, integral to the Indian Railways’ infrastructure, represents a major advancement in logistics by efficiently handling heavy loads. By consolidating multiple excavators into a single transport unit, CJ Darcl significantly reduces the carbon footprint associated with road transport. This innovative approach not only advances greener logistics but also supports the government’s infrastructure development goals, setting new standards for sustainable logistics.
