The Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations in India (FFFAI), a member of International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA) has honoured Avishkar Srivastava from PDP International with the FIATA Young Logistics Professionals (YLP) Award 2022. Anand Sheth from Sarjak Container Lines was announced as the Runner Up. Reportedly, Avishkar Srivastava has also been nominated for FIATA YLP Young International Freight Forwarder of the Year Award (YIFFA).
There were 17 more contestants from across different regions of India participated in the International YLP Award 2022, organised by FFFAI to promote and nominate Young Logistics Professionals from India to contest in the highly prestigious International Award, being organised by FIATA along with TT Club.
FFFAI Chairman, Shankar Shinde and the entire FFFAI Team congratulated the winner, the runner up and all participants for their efforts and conveyed the best wishes.
“I am happy to note the enthusiasm of the participants to get the FIATA YLP YIFFA Award for India. This will showcase the Indian youth talent in Logistics and also create leadership position,” said the FFFAI Chairman.
Other participants were Shanmugam Alagunta, Ragesh Balan Pillai, Pradeak Krishnamurthy, Tarun Masani, Shweta Dogra, Kamini Gupta, Aditya Modi, Anand Murugesan, Arunachalam Shanmuga Sundaram, bhiyank Govil, Aashish Rajaram Prajapati, Safiyah Akhter, Sushma Shetty, Pankaj Kanti Baridun, Wageesh Gahtori, Ishan Khurana, and Yash Radia.
According to FFFAI, this would be good a learning exercise for participants to again participate in the next year contest and look forward for to their next year’s nomination too. “The Award attracts and encourages next generation to look for opportunities in Logistics Industry by choice to have new innovative talent in this logistics industry. FIATA has also made available the previous dissertation for participants benefit,” it said.
FFFAI had invited self-nomination from Logistics Service providers to encourage/promote young logistics professionals to have international exposure by demonstrating domain knowledge as regard to logistics business and operations. Towards which there was good overwhelming responses out of which 19 applications were qualified for the first round to identify 5 candidates best candidates for dissertation process to complete with qualify for final round of which the finalist were declared after
interaction and deliberation.
The candidates in the final list were given the opportunity to present on their dissertation topic followed by a Q & A session with the jury of panellists consisting of the Past Chairman & Advisor to FFFAI – R Radhakrishnan, Chairman of FFFAI – Shankar Shinde, Chairman Elect – Dushyant Mulani, Sudhir Agarwal – Hon Treasurer, Vinod Sharma – Hon Secretary, Tej Contractor President of IIFF, and Nirav Thakker, Hon Secretary of IIFF – which is the training and skill development arm of FFFAI and an external expert independent mentor organisation.
Based on the conjoint views and unanimous decision, the jury selected Avishkar Srivastava as FFFAI nominee to participate further with FIATA at the YLP Award 2022. To participate in the nomination process pertaining to the YLP Award, the principal criteria was that the candidates participating company should be Member of FFFAI having two years full time experience in Freight Forwarding, would have to submit the dissertation on the topic stipulated by FIATA, and fulfil the condition stipulated in the registration form.
The dissertation is an opportunity for the candidate to demonstrate a range of skills and qualities that are needed to pursue a successful career in international forwarding and supply chain logistics. It would demonstrate the knowledge base of the contestants concerning the following aspects: Identifying a problem or business opportunity; gathering relevant information on a specific situation; identifying possible changes or enhancements for the benefit of the forwarder or the client; evaluating the information and drawing one’s own conclusions; deciding what action should be taken; making reasoned and costed recommendations; quality of innovation and initiative; description and valuation of the situation, discussion of problems, opportunities, faults, relevant issues, benefits, costs, etc. And, thereby, the participants would get the opportunity to have international acquaintances for their company as well as their own career building in the logistics domain.
