Uber India has announced a strategic tech integration with Shadowfax, India’s largest two-wheeler logistics fleet, to strengthen Uber Moto, its bike-sharing service. This partnership, a first in the ridesharing industry, expands Uber’s supply of two-wheeler drivers and improves service reliability across multiple cities. By tapping into Shadowfax’s fleet of over 2 lakh two-wheelers, Uber can now operate in new towns and cities, leveraging Shadowfax’s extensive network, which covers over 2,500 cities and 18,000 pincodes.
This collaboration benefits both Uber and Shadowfax. Uber gains a wider driver pool and expands its coverage, while Shadowfax diversifies its offerings as a Third-Party Logistics (3PL) provider. For drivers, this partnership opens new income opportunities by providing access to Uber’s fast-growing Moto platform.
Arnab Kumar, Director of Business Development at Uber India, emphasised that this integration represents a major innovation, aiming to drive bike taxi growth in India by creating a win-win strategy. It aligns with Uber’s ambition to become a comprehensive platform for mobility solutions.
Praharsh Chandra, Chief Business Officer and Co-founder of Shadowfax, highlighted how this partnership positions Shadowfax as the most diversified 3PL player in India. The collaboration allows drivers to access multiple income streams through Shadowfax’s “One app, all opportunities” platform, empowering them with mobility solutions like Uber Moto alongside last-mile delivery.
This integration is powered by Uber’s third-party APIs, a technology previously used in New York to link yellow cabs with Uber. Riders will continue booking via the Uber app, while trips will be routed to Shadowfax drivers in the background. The partnership marks a pivotal shift in both urban logistics and the mobility ecosystem, reinforcing both companies’ leadership in their respective sectors.
