One of the largest multimodal logistics operators in the CIS and Baltic countries, JSC RZD Russian Railways Logistics and Finland based freight forwarding firm, Nurminen Logistics Services OY is transporting the first block train from Europe to India via the Western wing of the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC).
The block train with 32 no. of 40ft containers departed from Vuosaari (Finland) on the June 21.
The train will cross over territories of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Azerbaijan. The estimated travel time by rail from the Vuossari to the Astara destination station will be 8 days.
From Astara station, the containers will be transported to the port of Bandar Abbas and further shipped by ship to the port of Nava Sheva (Mumbai). The total transit time between Finland and India will be maintained within 22 days.
This is the first multimodal shipment along the western branch of the North-South transport corridor, organised within the framework of the agreement signed at the St Petersburg International Economic Forum.
