Central Railways and Adani Logistics forge partnership to boost Nagpur’s logistics sector

In a significant move aimed at positioning Nagpur as a pivotal logistics hub within India, M/s Adani Logistics Limited’s Private Freight Terminal (PFT) in Borkhedi has undergone a transformation into the Gati Shakti Multi Modal Cargo Terminal. This transition marks a strategic collaboration between Central Railways Nagpur Division and M/s Adani Logistics Limited, signifying a concerted effort to bolster the city’s logistics infrastructure.

This newly designated Gati Shakti Cargo Terminal (GCT) represents the fourth terminal of its kind within the Division, joining the ranks of esteemed counterparts such as M/s MP Birla Cement in Mukutban, M/s Nagpur MMLP in Sindi, and M/s JSW Steel Ltd. in Kalmeshwar. By integrating the expertise and resources of Adani Logistics Limited with the vision of Indian Railways, the terminal is poised to play a pivotal role in facilitating seamless container traffic operations.

Indian Railways’ initiative to develop and implement Multi Modal Cargo Terminals across the nation underscores a commitment to establishing world-class logistics aggregation and disaggregation points. These terminals are envisioned as comprehensive facilities capable of accommodating various forms of cargo across different transportation modes, thereby optimising efficiency and streamlining logistical operations.

According to Mr. Aman Mittal, Senior Divisional Manager (Sr. DCM) of Central Railway, Nagpur, the agreement signed on Tuesday heralds a new era of growth and prosperity for Nagpur. The GCT is expected to not only elevate the city’s status as a logistics hub but also contribute significantly to the nation’s economy by enhancing revenue generation and fostering business growth opportunities.

Present at the signing ceremony were Mr. Nivrutti Bachhav, Terminal Head, and Mr. Chetan Sarode, Manager (Logistics) from M/s Adani Logistics Limited, underscoring the company’s commitment to driving forward this transformative initiative.
