Cathay Cargo has revamped its Cathay Courier service, enhancing its offering for urgent and small shipments with improved transparency and tracking capabilities. The refreshed solution retains its core features of speed, guaranteed capacity, dedicated handling, and customs clearance while adding greater visibility for customers.
Cathay Courier provides businesses with speed, flexibility, and access to Cathay’s extensive network, offering high-priority “flown as booked” assurance. It is available as an airport-to-airport solution or with first and last-mile collection and delivery options. The booking window is flexible, closing just 240 minutes before departure, while shipments can be accepted up to 90 minutes before take-off and retrieved 90 minutes after landing.
The upgraded Cathay Courier now offers enhanced track-and-trace options, making it suitable for high-value or bespoke e-commerce shipments, personal effects, and important documents. Customers can track shipments at piece level, adding an extra layer of visibility and control. This new feature is part of Cathay Cargo’s collaboration with Linex, the exclusive general sales agent for Cathay Cargo and a part of the Lenton Group, which specialises in courier and cross-border e-commerce logistics.
With the integration of systems between Cathay Cargo and Linex, customers will have improved tracking capabilities when shipments are in Cathay Cargo’s care. Tracking will be available at piece level via Linex systems and at the air waybill level on the Cathay Cargo website, providing a seamless and transparent experience for customers.
Tom Owen, Director of Cargo at Cathay, highlighted the importance of speed and flexibility in the refreshed service. “Cathay Courier has speed as its core benefit for our customers, with the flexibility of the ‘next flight out’ philosophy, ensuring they are not reliant on a rigid acceptance window,” he said. “Now that we have added the ability to track shipments at piece level and digitised the back office booking and invoicing process, we believe that Cathay Courier’s unique benefits will be attractive for high-value e-commerce shipments and SMEs needing express delivery.”
Valerie Dubuisson, Chief Executive Officer of Lenton Group, expressed her satisfaction with the collaboration, stating, “We are delighted to have worked with Cathay Cargo to digitalise the Cathay Courier process. With this systems integration, we can now offer our customers even greater reassurance with new levels of visibility through our track-and-trace down to piece level.”
Cathay Courier is the latest of Cathay Cargo’s special solutions to undergo a refresh, following similar enhancements to Cathay Pharma, Cathay Expert, and Cathay Mail, which also introduced piece-level tracking for post office customers.
Owen emphasised that the innovations to Cathay Courier will benefit a wide range of Cathay Cargo’s existing and new customers, enhancing the overall shipping experience with transparency, speed, and convenience. The upgraded service is expected to be particularly appealing for businesses handling high-value e-commerce shipments and those seeking reliable express delivery options.
