OPR SEAWAYS, a tri-party venture between Om Logistics, Phonex Group, and Roadwings International have come together to provide liner services to Bangladesh.
It’s touted to be one-of-a-kind movement, which has opened numerous trade opportunities between India and Bangladesh; with least possible transit time, which means savings in the entire process, more rotation of money and overall profitability.
The first sailing after encompassing governmental bottlenecks was successfully conducted on the 5th of May, 2022. 74 TEUs were loaded and sailed out on Barge M V Ashrafi 2, owned by M/s Abul Hassan & Brothers, Kolkata.
OPR seaways aims to provide hassle-free, quick and reliable transportation services to Bangladesh in containers through barges in the form of end-to-end consolidated logistics.
Om logistics has recently acquired Transafe (A Unit of Balmer Lawrie & Co) which has an inventory of over 15,000 containers ready for this movement.
Phonex-Roadwings with their equipment base, and stevedoring and shore handling expertise and tie-ups in Bangladesh are adding to this venture operationally. The company is focussed on providing consolidated logistics to the exporters where even a single container or less than container load (LCL) cargo can be transported from all over India to Bangladesh in the most economical manner.
This movement shall benefit the whole trade and Kolkata Port. With chartered and modified barges, lower handling costs, in-house vehicle fleet, container freight station, and custom and non-custom bounded warehouses, OPR has a massive competitive edge.
Practically, the benefits of container movements via barges to Bangladesh are as follows:
Ensuring Safety and Security of Cargo
As low as a single container or LCL Cargo can be transported to Bangladesh
8 Days delivery after sailing from Kolkata Port
Factory to Factory logistics available
Minimal Storage charges in containers
Reduced cost
