The Gujarat government has signed a MoU with Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) to setup a multimodal logistics park (MMLP), touted to be the country’s largest.
The park which is spread over 1,450 acre at Virochan Nagar, close to the auto hub of Sanand, is expected to attract investments worth Rs 50,000 crore in the transport and logistics space.
The project’s construction will begin within six months post the necessary statutory approvals, while the completion is expected within three years by 2023.
The proposed park will have a dedicated air cargo complex with 4.6 km long runway to handle even large sized cargo aircraft and will offer direct air, rail and road connectivity. It will also have a provision of direct rail connectivity with dedicated freight corridor which is part of the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC). It will have the potential to generate direct and indirect employment for 25,000 persons.
According to a statement by the Gujarat government, the park will have textile, bulk, e-commerce and BTS facilities spread across 3.8 million sq ft, bonded warehouses in 900,000 sq ft, Grade A palletised facilities of 400,000 sq ft, and temperature-controlled palletised facilities across 60,000 sq ft. The park will also have 3,00,000 sq ft of space for business and as skill development centre.
