American Airlines Cargo is gearing up for the 2024/2025 winter season with a significantly enhanced widebody schedule, introducing new routes and expanding services across key international markets.
From Latin America, the airline is adding a new seasonal route between Rio de Janeiro Galeão International Airport (GIG) and Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), operated by Boeing 787-8 aircraft. American is also increasing daily service from GIG to John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and expanding operations from São Paulo/Guarulhos International Airport (GRU) and Buenos Aires Ezeiza International Airport (EZE) to its Miami hub (MIA), offering up to three daily departures. In total, the airline is adding nearly 200 roundtrip widebody flights from Latin America compared to the previous winter season.
Across the Pacific, American is launching its longest non-stop flight from Brisbane Airport (BNE) to DFW, utilising Boeing 787-9 aircraft. Other notable routes include Tokyo-Haneda Airport (HND) to JFK, building on a successful summer launch, and increased daily flights from Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG) to DFW. Additionally, the airline is accelerating its Auckland International Airport (AKL) to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) route, starting in early December. The Pacific network will see an increase of over 150 roundtrip widebody flights this season.
In the Trans-Atlantic sector, American will offer daily service between Barcelona and Philadelphia International Airport (PHL), while maintaining the largest number of widebody departures from London Heathrow (LHR) among U.S. airlines.
Roger Samways, Vice President of Commercial for American Airlines Cargo, emphasised the strategic significance of the winter schedule, stating, “This expanded network allows us to better serve our customers globally, with new connections like DFW-GIG and increased capacity across the Pacific.”
