American Airlines Cargo has announced the certification of two more US stations under the IATA’s CEIV Pharma program. John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU) have joined the airline’s growing list of certified stations, further reinforcing its commitment to excellence in pharmaceutical logistics. The CEIV Pharma certification highlights American Airlines Cargo’s focus on ensuring safety, compliance, consistency, and rigorous training for handling Life Sciences products.
In addition to these new certifications, the carrier also achieved re-certification of its stations at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) and Philadelphia International Airport (PHL), which were first certified in 2021. Miami International Airport (MIA) and its headquarters also continue to hold certification, establishing American Airlines Cargo as a leader in pharmaceutical handling across major US hubs.
The carrier’s global network includes over 30 CEIV- or GDP-certified locations, such as Amsterdam (AMS), Frankfurt (FRA), and Shanghai (PVG), ensuring temperature-controlled handling at a global scale. This extensive network positions American Airlines as a key player in the air cargo pharmaceutical market.
“Our new CEIV certifications demonstrate our dedication to providing safe and effective handling of pharmaceuticals,” said Eric Mathieu, Head of Customer Experience for American Airlines Cargo. “We are committed to expanding our cold-chain network and offering the best services for temperature-sensitive shipments.”
Supporting its cold-chain solutions, American Airlines Cargo provides temperature-controlled containers from Envirotainer, CSafe, and Sonoco ThermoSafe, ensuring reliable transport for pharmaceutical products worldwide.
