Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) has signed a concession agreement with Deendayal Port Authority to develop Berth No. 13 at Deendayal Port, Kandla, Gujarat. APSEZ has set up a wholly-owned subsidiary, DPA Container and Clean Cargo Terminal (DPACCCTL), to manage operations at the berth. The project, secured under a 30-year concession, will be developed under the Design, Build, Finance, Operate, and Transfer (DBFOT) model, catering to multipurpose clean cargo, including container cargo.
Ashwani Gupta, Whole-time Director and CEO of APSEZ, stated, “Berth No. 13 will diversify our presence at Deendayal Port, allowing us to handle multipurpose clean cargo alongside our existing dry bulk operations.” He added that this expansion would strengthen APSEZ’s position on the western coast and enhance service capabilities in Gujarat and northern India.
The 300-meter-long berth is projected to have an annual capacity of 5.7 million tonnes and is expected to be commissioned in FY27. This development is part of APSEZ’s strategy to enhance its port infrastructure and service offerings, following a strong financial performance with a 47% rise in net profit for Q1FY2025 on the back of higher cargo volumes.
